Color 101 (part 2)

First post i ever did on my blog was about basic color theory. There's so much to talk when it comes to understanding colors... So i guess i'll just make few parts of it, lets call my first part Colors. The Prequel lol
Let's continue shall we? :)
So, if you’ve ever picked up the latest issue of some fashion magazine and red about this season’s "new black"- you know that "it colors" come and go in fashion. You went and bought alot of stuff in that color.. but it just doesn't.. look good? Happened to me....
You see, there are some shades that are always going to look good on you, and some that aren’t. No color looks good on everyone, and it’s just a fact. This has to do with your coloring, or the way your eye color, hair, and skin tone combine to give you a look. It’s really important to know what your perfect colors are, or you risk looking completely messed up!
The method called color analysis breaks people’s colorings down into Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. These color seasons are broken down even further, into 3 different categories per season. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s really helpful if you want to get a basic idea of what shades work for you.
How to know which one are you? Take this quiz:
If you’re having trouble with the first question, find a mirror placed in a well-lit place. Bring one item of clothing in each color. If you don’t have one of those, don’t worry, just use what you have. Put each piece of clothing up near your face, and observe what it does to your skin tone. If the color becomes the focus instead of your face, it’s not right. If it makes you light up, makes your eyes look brighter and your hair look better, you’ve found your winner!
If you are Asian, Latina or African, you will probably be an Autumn or Winter. If you are Caucasian, you will probably be a Spring or Summer.

As every season breaks down to three more categories i'm going to make this week dedicated to cover all these categories one season per day. I'll be starting with Spring today :)

 Spring:
1. Light Spring
  • Eyes: blue, green, turqoise or light hazel.
  • Hair: light/medium golden blonde, ash blonde, light/medium brown
  • Skin: Ivory with peach tones, pink beige.
 2. Pure Spring
  • Eyes: Turqoise blue, green, golden brown or topaz.
  • Hair: Medium/dark brown, brown/black, possibly with red highlights.
  • Skin: Bronze, deep warm brown, brown-black, light ivory, light peach or percelain.
 3. Warm Spring:
  • Eyes: Topaz, olive green, light hazel, warm turqoise.
  • Hair: Light golden brown, red, strawberry blonde, deep golden blonde
  • Skin: Golden beige, porcelain, possibly with freckles.

If there are freckles they are gold-brown. Lips – warm red. Eyelashes and eyebrows are of the same tint that the hair is (light or brown) but in fact they could be a bit darker than hair. Spring skin type acquires the tan pretty easy despite the delicate skin color. The skin gets the warm reddish-honey, gold-brown or dark-brow hue.

  8. I haven't found mine yet...I think >>;; I've been laughed at for having pink undertones only in the middle of my face and having yellow/gold undertones on the sides of my face --;;; Help?

  9. @Jessu - I saw your pics and i think you probobly are winter type girl :)You are really cute by the way. Patience honey, i will continue posting with more specifics as this needs alot of research for me to do also:)I also think that you can be pure spring, but i couldn't really saw the color of your eyes.. so check it out yourself :)
In which color do you look better? For springs cold pink color turns their skin pale and lips blue. Yellow/salmon color vice versa - brings some freshness to the skin making it cold a bit. Winter and summer types skin looks better near a cold-pink tint unlike to the yellow/salmon hue that turns the skin greyish, and brings out the under eye circles :)

  10. Thanks^^ I will work on my patience. Not my strong suit.

I have brown eyes and my hair is a little...brownish (not jet black or anything). The colors I feel comfortable in? I don't know if I have ever tried the colors you described. I think the problem is that I can be very pale in the winter time and very dark in the summer time, so when I'm tanned I have more asian skin (in terms of tone) and in the winter time slightly more pinkish. So in the summer time I feel fine wearing yellow, but in the winter time I feel...pale.

The truth behind cheapness of Coastal Scents. Fake MAC.

Since it's April Fool's day what can we found better to talk about but fools? :D
And what if we combine it with our favorite subject - beauty?

One of the reasons why i actually wanted to write about this is because since i do aloooot of research online i found some interesting theories about some famous brands. Well brand to be exact - Coastal Scents. Almost everyone interested in make-up knows this brand and owns their 88 palette. I do to. I bought it from their website directly a while ago. Everything is great. I like the quality, the palette is really well pigmented, it was cheap, i got amazingly kind costumer service (they answered tons of my e-mails very fast)
The question is - why i only had to pay 18 dollars for the whole pallette, when alot of people compare their shadows to MAC brand, which costs 14 dollars per unit. And here i got even 88 different colours. The thing is... everything from Coastal Scents are made in Hong Kong or somewhere near by. It's not being ma…

Best and Worst drugstore foundations. Maybelline vs. L'oreal.

I've been using drugstore foundations forever, cause i can't really afford high-end stuff. I'm a grad-student, and  i allready spend all my money on cosmetics. I live in Europe, so stuff like MAC or Lush is non-existant here. Well at least not in my country. (Let's make the "Aaaaaaw..." sound now all together). Let's not make it sound like the edge of the world though, we have kinda everything else here... most of the popular drugstore brands, most of the high end brands... Most of the popular clothing stores....except the Forever 21... (1...2....3... awwwww)
Anyway since i've used almost every drugstore foundation there is i'd liked to share my opinion of which i thought is best and which is.... well let's call it "not-so-much"....

So i'd like to give the name of Best Drugstore foundation to Maybelline's Dream Satin Liquid.
It's cheaper than the foundation that i'd like to call "not-so-much", but it works wo…

How to Make Your Hair Grow Faster

Sorry so much for beeing m.i.a. for a while, i've been busy as hell, cause i was studying on my history pre finals... Do you know, that something really boring happened to someone really ugly in the middle ages?
Anyway, i aced it, and i can dedicate slightly more time to blogging :)

So i was at the hair salon earlier this week, to get them dyed and trimmed. I dye my hair way too  much. The color of it changes more than the shape of my eyebrows... I can't really remember my natural hair colour. It has been strawberry blond, bright red, aubergine, brown, mahagony..... I can go on for a while actually..... So i decided to make it nice and natural now, i came out chocollaty brown. It's so different from what i've had.

So i'm in my hairdressers chair, we're chatting and she says to me, that she noticed that i am a lot thinner than i were (thanks, but that's not a compliment for me) and that i have alot of new baby hair growing (yay). I never really noticed that. …
